Goldwater has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. The Goldwater Bulldogs and the Agua Fria Owls will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Goldwater suffered their biggest loss since December 15, 2023 on Friday. They were outmatched by Cactus at home and fell 80-52. Goldwater was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-16.
Meanwhile, Agua Fria's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Estrella Foothills by a score of 51-48. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Agua Fria has suffered yet this season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Bryan Burrows, who scored 14 points along with two blocks. That's the first time this season that he posted two or more blocks. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Daniels jr, who scored 14 points.
Goldwater's loss was their sixth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 6-15. As for Agua Fria, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.
Goldwater came up short against Agua Fria in their previous matchup last Wednesday, falling 75-69. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Agua Fria's Xavier Daniels, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Now that Goldwater knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
