Baseball Recap: Norfolk Comes Up Short

Norfolk fell victim to Grand Island and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Islanders, falling 9-0. The Panthers just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Norfolk got a good showing from Adrian O'Brien, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The Panthers are 2-1 when O'Brien allows two or fewer hits, but 1-7 otherwise.

Norfolk's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Grand Island, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-2.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Norfolk will face off against rival Adams Central at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Grand Island is set to challenge their familiar foe Papillion-LaVista South at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Islanders 4, the Titans 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
