The Grapevine Mustangs fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came out on top against Monterey by a score of 61-52 on Saturday.
Grapevine was led to victory by Matthew E woodcock and Aaron Sowell. E woodcock dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Sowell scored 25 points along with nine assists. Those 25 points set a new season-high mark for him. Blue Schaper was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Grapevine's victory bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Monterey, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-14.
Grapevine will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Lake Dallas at 12:30 p.m. Lake Dallas knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 17 matches -- so hopefully Grapevine likes a good challenge. Monterey and Wylie will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
