The ILTexas Arlington Eagles waltzed into their match Tuesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They enjoyed a cozy 60-42 victory over UME Preparatory Academy. That's another feather in the cap for ILTexas Arlington, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
ILTexas Arlington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Erik Castaneda led the charge by scoring 17 points along with four steals. Another player making a difference was Sean Tang, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Several EAGLES players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Will Lupton, who scored 20 points. Lupton scored a full 47.6% of UME Preparatory Academy's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Noah Chapman was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with four steals.
UME Preparatory Academy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
ILTexas Arlington pushed their record up to 12-14 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.5 points per game. As for UME Preparatory Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.
ILTexas Arlington will head out on the road to face off against UME Preparatory Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully UME Preparatory Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Tuesday.
