Deubrook won the last time they met up with St. Mary, and they shouldn't regret having come to the reunion, either. Deubrook took their contest against St. Mary on Friday by a conclusive 49-20 score. Deubrook were expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast.
Deubrook started the matchup off right with 21 first-half points. St. Mary countered with 6 points, leaving the score at 21-6 going into the half. Deubrook's offense just added to that total in the second half en route to their big win.
Junior Trace Vierhuf, who rushed for 293 yards and 6 touchdowns, was a major factor in Deubrook's success. They also got a significant boost from senior Clayton Koppatschek, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 110 yards. The win got them back to even at 3-3. The defeat dropped St. Mary's record to 2-4.
Deubrook will stay at home next week against DeSmet at 7:00 PM. Deubrook are cruising in on a three-game winning streak while DeSmet are stumbling in off of three consecutive losses. St. Mary will be staying on the road, facing off against Elkton/Lake Benton MN.
