The Cheyenne Mountain Hawks will venture away from home to challenge the Lutheran Lions at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cheyenne Mountain is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.
Cheyenne Mountain is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Canon City just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers.
Colton Johnson made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Ewen, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Lutheran waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Kadets as they made off with an 18-8 win. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.
Landry Warner looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Lutheran got a massive performance out of Anthony Misch, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Misch has posted since back in May of 2025. Tyce Macnamara was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
Lutheran was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Air Academy only posted a batting average of .231.
Cheyenne Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Lutheran, their record now sits at 12-6.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cheyenne Mountain hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .334. However, it's not like Lutheran struggles in that department as they've averaged .352. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
