If the Quincy Trojans were feeling good off their 53-30 takedown of the Chester Volcanoes last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Quincy took a 69-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Portola on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Portola got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Connor Sheridan out in front who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 19 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Sheridan has scored at least a third of Portola's points. Liam Bowling was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Quincy's loss dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Portola, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Quincy will face off against Burney at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Burney has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 1. As for Portola, they will head out on the road to square off against Redding Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
