Skyline is on a three-game streak of home losses, Highland a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Skyline Eagles will take on the Highland Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Skyline is ranked 78th, while Highland is ranked 98th).
Skyline scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took down East 70-54. That 16 points margin sets a new team best for Skyline this season.
Skyline's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cami Groberg led the charge by scoring 29 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Groberg has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Leelu Bare, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Highland's 16-6 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 50-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of East on Friday.
Danae Asiata put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 20 points along with five rebounds. That was a full 54.1% of Highland's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Malia Kaufusi, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Skyline's victory bumped their record up to 3-10. As for Highland, their loss dropped their record down to 0-10.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's contest: Skyline have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 5.7 threes per game. It's a different story for Highland, though, as they've been averaging only 1.8 threes per game. Given Skyline's sizeable advantage in that area, Highland will need to find a way to close that gap.
Skyline couldn't quite finish off Highland when the teams last played back in February of 2023 and fell 63-60. Will Skyline have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
