 Diana Martinez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out ten batters over  five innings while giving up just one earned run off   one  hit. That's the fewest  hits  she has allowed since back in March of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box,  getting on base  in three of her four plate appearances with one  home run, three  runs,  and two  RBI. The dominant performance gave  her a new career-high in  runs.
 In other batting news, San Diego let  Amanda Villarreal and  Madison McNamara run wild. Villarreal  went 2-for-4 with one  triple, two  RBI,  and one  run, while  McNamara  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of  Andrea Murphy, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 1-for-2.
The  victory  got San Diego back to even at 1-1. As for Chula Vista Learning Community Charter,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 0-2.
 Coming up, San Diego will be playing at home against Hoover  at 3:30  p.m.  on Wednesday. As for Chula Vista Learning Community Charter, they are taking a road trip to  challenge Kearny  at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
