West Branch has gone a perfect 10-0 against Moshannon Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Warriors will face off against the Black Knights/Damsels at 4:30 p.m. West Branch is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.
Moshannon Valley's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Monday: West Branch hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Warriors came out on top against Curwensville by a score of 3-0 last Friday.
Not much got past Makena Moore, who gave up just a hit and racked up 17 Ks to keep Curwensville off the board. Moore has been consistent : she hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, West Branch's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Lindsey Bainey, who scored a run while going 3-for-5.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Moshannon Valley). They blew past Blacklick Valley 18-2 on Wednesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Black Knights/Damsels with their most commanding win of the season.
Annabeth Anderson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Anderson was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Jocelyn Vereshack was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ava Robison, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Moshannon Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .364 or higher in four consecutive contests.
West Branch's record is now 6-1. As for Moshannon Valley, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
