West Jordan is 9-1 against Cyprus since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The West Jordan Jaguars will head out on the road to take on the Cyprus Pirates at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in West Jordan's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six contests.
Last Friday, West Jordan didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Taylorsville, but they still walked away with a 55-50 victory.
Colton Blackham was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with eight assists and two steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Alex Szymanski, who scored eight points along with 13 rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, even though Hunter scored an imposing 59 points on Friday, Cyprus still came out on top. Cyprus walked away with a 71-59 win over Hunter. Cyprus didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this victory makes it their second in a row.
Cyprus' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Beckham Bayles, who scored 18 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Stone Tia, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
West Jordan's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-10. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.6 points per game. As for Cyprus, their victory bumped their record up to 3-13.
West Jordan was able to grind out a solid win over Cyprus when the teams last played on January 3rd, winning 62-51. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Jordan since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
