Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only The Sweet Springs Greyhounds walked away with it. They secured a 36-32 W over Northwest on Friday. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Sweet Springs had a senior duo take command as Seth Rader rushed for 235 yards and two touchdowns and Braden Knipmeyer gained 85 total yards and three touchdowns.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jason Boss, who rushed for 111 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries, and also picked up 52 receiving yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Dane Palmer, who threw for 115 yards and three touchdowns.
Sweet Springs is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Northwest, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Sweet Springs is on the road again on Friday and play against St. Paul Lutheran. One thing working in St. Paul Lutheran's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last five matchups. Northwest does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
