The Everglades Gators's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their eighth straight loss. They fell just short of Cooper City by a score of 55-52. Everglades lost against the Cowboys in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 61-21 score last time.
Everglades' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cornelius Pressley, Jr, who scored 13 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pressley, Jr has scored all season. Chaz Chambers was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Everglades dropped their record down to 11-11 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Cooper City, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Everglades won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. American will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. As for Cooper City, they will head out on the road to face off against the Titans at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Nova will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 580th, while the Cowboys are ranked 203rd).
