For the first time this season, Augusta Southeastern will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They are headed away from home for the first time to square off against the Mendon Unity Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Augusta Southeastern's win against Astoria/VIT wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Augusta Southeastern sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over Astoria/VIT on Wednesday. The Suns haven't had any issues with the Rebels recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Augusta Southeastern saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Case Marlow, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Mendon Unity hadn't done well against Seymour recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Mendon Unity put the hurt on Seymour with a sharp 28-9 victory. That looming 28-9 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Mustangs yet this season.
Sawyer Allen made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Allen was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-6 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Simon Rabe was incredible, getting on base in all seven of his plate appearances with seven RBI, four runs, and one triple. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Frese, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his seven plate appearances.

The win (which was Mendon Unity's third in a row) raised their record to 3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Augusta Southeastern, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Augusta Southeastern suffered a grim 19-4 defeat to Mendon Unity in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Augusta Southeastern avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
