Clay had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 10-6 victory over the Bradford Tornadoes. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Tornadoes recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Clay got a great performance from Sadie Russo as she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
At the plate, Clay let Brooke Hamilton and Kaelye Rouw loose on the outfield. Hamilton scored three runs while going 3-for-5, while Rouw scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Rouw has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hailie Miera, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Clay was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bradford only posted a batting average of .194.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clay will head out to challenge Baldwin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bradford, they will head out on the road to face off against North Marion at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
