It was a good run, but the Castle View Sabercats unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 57-46 defeat to Denver East. Castle View lost against Denver East in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 48-38 score last time.
Several Sabercats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kenzie Tosch, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Tosch scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lizzy Mroz, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Castle View's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Denver East, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-6.
Castle View will be playing at home against Mountain Vista at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Denver East's road trip will continue as they head out to face Highlands Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th.
