The Bishop Moore Hornets pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 67-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of The First Academy. Bishop Moore just can't catch a break and has now endured three defeats in a row.
Bishop Moore's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Justin Suarez, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Codio, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
Lorenzo De jesus continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for The First Academy, scoring 20 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Max Simmons, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Bishop Moore bumped their record down to 10-7 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for The First Academy, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bishop Moore will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Lake Mary at 7:30 p.m. on January 22nd. Lake Mary is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for The First Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Lake Gibson at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Lake Gibson will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 349th, while The First Academy is ranked 128th).
