6A Special District 1 recap October 29, 2013
Thurston was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from eighth to sixth in 6A Special District 1. Earlier in the week, the Colts defeated South Eugene 20-7.
North Medford extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Roseburg, 14-10. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
Thurston's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Brendin Quinn threw for 183 and 2 touchdowns and Carson Cook had 111 yards receiving. On the ground Jacob Patterson chipped in 164 yards. Patterson helped Thurston's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 24 yards.

Ty Fox was a passing and rushing force as Crater lost to South Medford. He completed 21 passes for 237 yards and also ran for 28 yards. Fox's key target this week was Carlos Higuerra, who caught 4 passes for 64 yards.
Gauge Hallett was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Colts topped South Eugene. The 5-foot-11 senior racked up 2 sacks.
He was 20-31 with 0 interceptions.
The Comets' Fox and Kory Bennett led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Fox has thrown for 2,865 yards this season, while Bennett has 54 catches for 828 yards. North Medford's Nick Janakas leads the league in rushing yards with 884.
Entering into this week's contest against Beaverton, Quinn is short just 100 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season. Accruing a total of 16 touchdowns this year, Quinn has thrown for 1,900 yards with 13 interceptions.
Sheldon took down Grants Pass 45-25 last week, the largest margin of any game.
