Basketball Recap: Myers Park Wins Going Away Against Olympic

Myers Park won the last time they faced Olympic and things went their way on Thursday too. Everything went the Myers Park Mustangs' way against the Olympic Trojans as the Myers Park Mustangs made off with a 51-31 win. The Mustangs pushed the score to 47-20 by the end of the third, a deficit the Trojans cut but never quite recovered from.

Myers Park found their leader in sophomore Amani Barner, who went 9 for 15 on her way to 21 points. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for Barner. The team also got some help courtesy of Chayla McDaniel, who posted four points in addition to six assists and five steals.

Myers Park was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Olympic only racked up five assists.

Despite the loss, Olympic had strong showings from Chaya James, who put up nine points along with seven rebounds and three blocks, and Barri Terry, who had eight points and three steals. James has been hot, having posted two or more blocks the last five times she's played.

The victory made it two in a row for Myers Park and bumps their season record up to 6-10. As for Olympic, they moved to 6-9 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Myers Park didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-33 win against Berry on the 14th. Olympic has also already played their next match, a 43-25 loss against Ardrey Kell on the 14th.
