After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bourgade Catholic, Northwest Christian was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the Payson Longhorns 17-8. The Crusaders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by nine runs or more this season.
Kinsey Unger was a standout: she scored four runs and stole a base while going 5-for-6. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Caylie Thomas, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 5-for-5.
Northwest Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .522. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Payson only posted a batting average of .371.
Northwest Christian's victory bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Payson, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-4.
Looking ahead, Northwest Christian will head out to take on Seton Catholic at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Payson, they will take on Apache Junction at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
