Meanwhile, Plum got themselves on the board against Burrell on Monday, but Burrell never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Bucs with a sharp 10-0 win. Considering the Mustangs have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Mackenzie Marotta made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two RBI.
In other batting news, Plum got a massive performance out of Sydney Pici, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Danielle Pici was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Plum kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 13-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Plum pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Deer Lakes, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-11.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Deer Lakes hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Plum struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
