The Providence Classical Christian Highlanders kicked off their season on the road on Monday and hit a couple of potholes. They were the victim of a tough 44-20 defeat at the hands of Grace Academy. Providence Classical Christian lost against Grace Academy in their previous head to head back in January of 2016, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 39-18 score last time.
Candice Mugo-Wainaina was the offensive standout of the game as she scored 16 points along with four steals. The matchup was Mugo-Wainaina's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Lorien Ashby, who scored 11 points.
Providence Classical Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Grace Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Providence Classical Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Grace Academy will head out on the road to face off against Tulalip Heritage at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
