With a playoff win on the line, Pahrump Valley rose to the challenge on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Canyon Springs Pioneers as they made off with a 17-1 win. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by six runs or more this season.
Tony Whitney and Aidyn Cratty did most of the damage at the plate: Whitney went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Cratty got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Whitney is becoming a predictor of Pahrump Valley's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 9-10-1 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Benny Cimperman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.
Pahrump Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They are a perfect 12-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
The victory snapped Pahrump Valley's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 21-10-1 record. As for Canyon Springs, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-16.
