The Penn Cambria Panthers will head out to square off against the Central Cambria Red Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Penn Cambria is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Penn Cambria came up short against Tyrone and fell 9-5.
Penn Cambria saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alyse Rabatin, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Central Cambria came out on top against Bellwood-Antis on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run first inning. The Red Devils' pitcher stepped up to hand the Blue Devils a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Red Devils have won four matches by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Keira Link made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Katie George was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Sophia Blasko was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Central Cambria lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Central Cambria's record is now 7-3. As for Penn Cambria, they dropped their record down to 3-9 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Penn Cambria hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Central Cambria struggles in that department as they've averaged .348. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Penn Cambria suffered a grim 15-4 defeat to Central Cambria when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
