The Redeemer Christian Lions were the 74-27 winner over the Meadowbrook Academy Mustangs when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Redeemer Christian fell to Meadowbrook Academy 57-53. Redeemer Christian has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Redeemer Christian lost on Monday, one person who can't be blamed is Andrew Parker. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 25 points and 14 rebounds. Parker scored a full 47.2% of Redeemer Christian's points, the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Patrick Miller-Edwards was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 14 rebounds.
Meadowbrook Academy found their leader in underclassman Tico Smith, who scored 23 points along with six steals. The matchup was Smith's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gaige Daugherty, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Redeemer Christian has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Meadowbrook Academy, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-3.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Riverside Christian the next time they take the court. Redeemer Christian will host Riverside Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Meadowbrook Academy will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
