Softball Recap: Goodrich Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Goodrich, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Owosso Trojans a 5-0 shutout on Monday. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 4-3 victory on Wednesday.

The result came thanks to Jayden Gohs's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Anna Light, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double. That's the most hits she has posted over her last ten matchups.

Goodrich is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Owosso, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-9.

Coming up, Goodrich will face off against Brandon at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Blackhawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.92 runs per game on average), something the Martians will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Owosso, they will challenge Lake Fenton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
