The Marquette Catholic Blazers's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Logansport Berries at 11:00 a.m. on December 27th. Hopefully Marquette Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Monday.
Last Monday, Marquette Catholic was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 56-51 to Elkhart Christian Academy.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Colson Dobre, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. The match was his third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was JJ Welch, who scored 13 points.
Even though they lost, Marquette Catholic were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Logansport pushed their score all the way to 75 last Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 81-75 hit to the loss column at the hands of Maconaquah. Logansport has struggled against Maconaquah recently, as their matchup last Saturday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Isaac Russell, who scored 22 points. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for him. Jacob Taylor was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds.
Marquette Catholic's defeat ended a eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-2. As for Logansport, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.
Wednesday's game is shaping up to be a blowout: Marquette Catholic hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 52.8 points per game. It's a different story for Logansport, though, as they've been averaging only 50.3 points per game. The only thing between Marquette Catholic and another offensive beatdown is Logansport.
