The Clairemont Chieftains will be taking part in a tournament against the Calexico Bulldogs  at 3:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Calexico will  take on  a team with plenty of momentum: Clairemont extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday. The Chieftains were the clear victors by  a  12-2 margin over Washington. With that  win, the Chieftains brought their scoring average up to 6.8  runs per game.
 Jackson Cleary looked comfortable as he  struck out seven batters over  four innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   two  hits. Those  seven  strikeouts gave  him a new career-high.

 On the hitting side,  Colton Daudet was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one  home run, four  runs,  and one  triple. Those  four  runs gave  him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Brendan Weiss, who  went 2-for-4 with three  RBI, two  runs,  and one  triple.
 Clairemont  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 13  hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Washington only managed three  hits.
Meanwhile, Calexico won against Lincoln  on Tuesday with six  runs and they decided to stick to that  run total again  on Wednesday. The Bulldogs never let Sutter get on the board and left with  a   6-0  victory. The  win made it back-to-back  victories for the Bulldogs.
 Jose Ortega made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he  didn't allow a single  earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-3 with two  RBI and one  double.
 In other batting news,  Randy Baez was  excellent,  scoring a  run while going 2-for-2.  Luis Beltran was another key player,  scoring two  runs while going 1-for-2.
 Clairemont's win was  their third straight at home, which  pushed their record up to 6-2. Those  home  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Calexico, their win bumped their record up to 11-3-1.
