Kennedy Memorial is 1-8 against South Plainfield since September of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Mustangs will square off against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.
South Plainfield will be up against a hot Kennedy Memorial team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. The Mustangs blew past Middlesex 42-0 on Friday. The game marked the Mustangs' most dominant victory of the season.

Kennedy Memorial's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Richie Trotman, who threw for 177 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes, and Fiheem Howell, who rushed for 101 yards and two scores. Howell's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 101 rushing yards. 115 of Trotman's passing yards were hauled in by Grant Lorentzen, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Kennedy Memorial's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Abdul Wahab with two sacks. The game marked his first with multiple sacks this season.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for South Plainfield against South River on Thursday as the team secured a 35-8 win. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Kennedy Memorial better keep an eye on Christian Brown. He was instrumental in South Plainfield's win, rushing for 53 yards and a pair of TDs.
South Plainfield was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 222 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 200 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for South Plainfield, racking up 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Dominic Massaro, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
The win got South Plainfield back to even at 4-4. As for Kennedy Memorial, their record now sits at 6-2.
Kennedy Memorial couldn't quite get it done against South Plainfield in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 as they fell 21-14. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
