The Christian Academy of Knoxville Warriors will head out to take on the William Blount Governors at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Christian Academy of Knoxville's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Campbell County 15-0. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Emily Bogoski was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single hit, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing Three bases. while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Christian Academy of Knoxville let Halle Bedwell and Gracie Kringen run wild. Bedwell scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Kringen scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Kringen a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Sophie Carroll, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Christian Academy of Knoxville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Campbell County only posted an OBP of .118.
Meanwhile, William Blount put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Hardin Valley Academy as William Blount made off with a 14-1 victory.
Katee Owens made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Maddie Morton and Blaine Bell did most of the damage at the plate: Morton went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double, while Bell went 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Chloe Merriman was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
William Blount's record is now 3-0. As for Christian Academy of Knoxville, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Christian Academy of Knoxville skirted past William Blount 9-7 in their previous matchup back in April of 2015. The rematch might be a little tougher for Christian Academy of Knoxville since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
