It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Oriskany had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Fillmore Eagles. Winning may never get old, but the Skyhawks sure are getting used to it with their 17th in a row.
Eddie Wright made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sean Graziano, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Nick Hays, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Oriskany's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Fillmore, they moved to 16-8 with that loss, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.
