The Lafayette Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season. They took their contest on the road on Thursday with ease, bagging a 59-25 victory over St. Martinville. Winning may never get old, but Lafayette sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Despite the defeat, St. Martinville saw an underclassman step up: Kristian Batiste scored seven points.
Lafayette pushed their record up to 11-1 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.2 points per game. As for St. Martinville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-10.
Lafayette's road trip will continue as they head out to face Northside at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. St. Martinville won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against New Iberia at 3:00 p.m. on December 29th. New Iberia presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than St. Martinville in Louisiana (New Iberia is ranked 11th, while St. Martinville is ranked 169th).
