Burley is 1-9 against Twin Falls since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Bobcats will be playing at home against the Bruins at 2:00 p.m. Burley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
Twin Falls will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Burley extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday. The Bobcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over Wood River. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bobcats have posted against the Wolverines since April 8, 2022.
Ike Redder spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered six earned runs on 13 hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jake Redder, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Gaige Funk, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Twin Falls, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They came out on top against Mountain Home by a score of 9-4 on Monday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Twin Falls also got a great performance from Dalton Carter as he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits.
At the plate, Cooper Thompson was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Hoyt Murray was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.
Burley's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Twin Falls, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Saturday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Burley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .440. However, it's not like Twin Falls struggles in that department as they've averaged .435. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Burley came up short against Twin Falls in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 12-8. Can the Bobcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
