Baseball Recap: Clinton Prairie Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

It's playoff time, and Clinton Prairie had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on the Fort Wayne Canterbury Cavaliers with a sharp 17-5 win on Saturday. Considering the Gophers have won 12 contests by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Ben Schlicher was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Thomas, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Clinton Prairie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .387 or higher in four consecutive games.

Clinton Prairie has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Fort Wayne Canterbury, they moved to 13-9 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Clinton Prairie wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 5-0 loss against Kouts on the 14th. Fort Wayne Canterbury does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
