The Niangua Cardinals's game on Thursday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Conway and snuck past 77-74. Given Niangua's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Conway is ranked 321st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Niangua's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ethan Scheetz, who scored 26 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Scheetz hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Clayton Henderson, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Niangua is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. As for Conway, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-11.
Both teams will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Conway is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for they, they will head out on the road to square off against Niangua at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Niangua focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday.
