This season hasn't been kind to the Hayden Lobos, who are still winless after their seventh contest. They took a 40-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of Desert Christian on Wednesday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hayden in their matchups with Desert Christian: they've now lost four in a row.
Several Lobos players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sienna Gonzales, who scored 14 points. Gonzales scored a full 48.3% of Hayden's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Dallas Mariscal, who scored 6 points.
Desert Christian found their leader in underclassman Emmy Welch, who scored 11 points along with 8 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cait Lundgren, who scored 10 points.
The last time Hayden won on the road was back last Tuesday. Having now lost four straight away games, they've bumped their record down to 0-7. As for Desert Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Hayden will be playing at home against Mogollon at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Mogollon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Friday. As for Desert Christian, they will face off against Scottsdale Preparatory Academy at 8:00 a.m. on Friday.
