The Erwin Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Asheville by a score of 58-56. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Erwin in their matchups with Asheville: they've now lost three in a row.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Carson Wallace, who scored 16 points. Wallace scored a full 28.6% of Erwin's points, the 12th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelson Rymer, who scored 11 points.
It was another big night for Aris Joyner, who scored 20 points for Asheville. Another player making a difference was Andre Thomas, who scored ten points.
Erwin bumped their record down to 6-7 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Asheville, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Erwin will face off against Smoky Mountain at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Averaging 56.6 so far this season, Smoky Mountain's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Erwin better be ready for a challenge. Asheville will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against A.C. Reynolds at 7:30 p.m. on January 10th. A.C. Reynolds has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
