Buchtel has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the East Dragons at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Thursday, Buchtel came up short against Ellet and fell 55-42. While losing is never fun, Buchtel can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 508th, while Ellet is ranked 219th).
Meanwhile, East's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by Firestone on the road and fell 50-15. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat East has suffered since December 14, 2023.
Brooklynn Diener was East's leading scorer, having posted ten points. Diener also led the team in rebounds with nine.
Buchtel now has a losing record at 7-8. As for East, their loss dropped their record down to 1-13.
Everything came up roses for Buchtel against East in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 51-4 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Buchtel since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
