Seton Catholic had lost four straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 4-9 to make it five. They fell just short of the Wes-Del Warriors by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cardinals have suffered since April 6, 2024.
Seton Catholic saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyson Tremain, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Colin Murray was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
As for Wes-Del, their record is now 6-10. The win continues a trend for them in their matchups with Seton Catholic: they've now won five in a row.
On Wes-Del's side, Carter Flynn was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Flynn has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Wes-Del is undefeated when Flynn posts two or more runs, but 3-10 otherwise.
In other pitching news, Wes-Del got a great performance from Jodan King as he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.
Back at the plate, Tyler Summers was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Wes-Del: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-9 otherwise.
Looking ahead, Seton Catholic will square off against Eastern Hancock at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Wes-Del, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 4-2 loss against Yorktown on the 8th.
