After flying high against the Crystal Lake Central Tigers last Wednesday, the Jacobs Golden Eagles came back down to earth. Jacobs suffered a rough 64-38 defeat at the hands of Crystal Lake South on Thursday. Jacobs has struggled against Crystal Lake South recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Jacobs still got an impressive performance from Treval Howard, who scored 11 points along with two steals. Howard is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Roper, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Jacobs' defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Crystal Lake South, they pushed their record up to 17-2 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Jacobs will face off against St. Charles North at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Charles North is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Crystal Lake South, Crystal Lake South and Crystal Lake Central will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Crystal Lake Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 553rd, while Crystal Lake South is ranked 48th).
