The Box Elder Bears's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell to Big Sandy 59-53. The matchup was a 32-32 toss-up at halftime, but Box Elder was outscored by Big Sandy in the second.
Despite the loss, Box Elder saw an underclassman step up: Martay Rosette scored 17 points. Rosette continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ariel Gopher, who scored 12 points.
Box Elder has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Big Sandy, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Box Elder will head out on the road to square off against Fort Benton/Highwood at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Big Sandy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Box Elder at 6:00 p.m. on February 10th.
