The Central Red Devils will square off against the Carver Montgomery Wolverines at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Central is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alabama's top teams: Auburn, who was ranked ninth at the time (Central was ranked third). The Red Devils' defense stepped up to hand the Tigers a 36-0 shutout on Friday. The Red Devils pushed the score to 31-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers had no chance of recovering from.

A big part of Central's win came down to the chemistry between Bobby Coleman and his top target Braylen Averett. Coleman threw for 242 yards and three TDs while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt while Averett picked up 102 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Averett was no stranger to the big play, connecting on a big catch that went for 65 yards. Jayshaun Woodhouse handled things on the ground, rushing for 98 yards.
One reason for the win was Central's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 7.5 sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Tristan Lyles and Jeremiah Moore, who racked up five sacks between them. Lyles is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last four games he's played. Central received some extra help from Tony Arnett, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Meanwhile, Carver Montgomery hadn't done well against Enterprise recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Wolverines breezed past the Wildcats to the tune of 49-14. The victory was familiar territory for the Wolverines, who have now won five contests in a row.
Central better focus on containing Zion Crumpton and Elijah Tarver as the pair were huge in Carver Montgomery's win. Crumpton threw for 158 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 12 passes, while Tarver rushed for 77 yards and two TDs on only seven carries.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Carver Montgomery proved: they limited Enterprise to a paltry 3.3 yards per carry. The Wolverines didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.1.
Central's record is now 6-1. As for Carver Montgomery, their record now sits at 5-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Central has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 417.9 total yards per game. It's a different story for Carver Montgomery, though, as they've been averaging only 218.8 total yards. Will Central be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will the Wolverines flip the script?
Central didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Carver Montgomery in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 31-26 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
