The Fullerton Indians will square off against the JSerra Catholic Lions at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Fullerton is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Canyon del Oro, who was ranked first in their home state at the time (Fullerton was ranked 12th). The Indians were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Dorados on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Indians sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Fullerton got a great performance from Katelynn Mathews as she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Mathews has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Fullerton's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Malaya Majam-Finch, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Majam-Finch has posted since back in March of 2024. Ava Flores was another, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask JSerra Catholic). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Millikan an 11-0 shutout on Thursday. The Lions not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since February 29, 2024.
Abby Ford tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Brooklyn Lamb was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Annabel Raftery, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
The victory made it two in a row for JSerra Catholic and bumps their season record up to 10-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Fullerton, their victory bumped their record up to 11-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Fullerton hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like JSerra Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Fullerton skirted past JSerra Catholic 2-1 in their previous meeting back in February of 2019. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
