The St. John's Islanders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by Burke on the road and fell 60-28. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for St. John's in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost nine in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Burke to victory, but perhaps none more so than jeremiah Venning, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Nelson, who scored nine points.
St. John's dropped their record down to 5-14 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Burke, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season.
St. John's will be playing at home against the Riptide at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Charleston Math & Science is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Burke, they will take on the NaviGators at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lowcountry Leadership will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 298th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 125th).
