On Thursday Empire will take on Wilson . Since neither squad is a stranger to landslide victories this season, you'd better bet it will be hard-fought showdown.
Their game two weeks ago wasn't at all kind to Empire, but their most recent match may have softened the blow. They put a hurting on Bray-Doyle to the tune of 56-8. Empire were expected to win, but the margin was definitely larger than the state rankings had forecast.
Meanwhile, Wilson put the finishing touches on their 6th blowout victory of the season last Friday. They put the hurt on Central with a sharp 40-6 victory. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 32-6.
Their wins bumped Empire to 3-4 and Wilson to 6-1. Given their high-scoring efforts against their previous opponents, it will be interesting to see how far up these teams can run up the score.
