Basketball Recap: Olivia Bolduc Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Severn School

After losing to Severn School the last time they met, St. John's Catholic Prep decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The St. John's Catholic Prep Vikings managed a 53-47 victory over the Severn School Admirals on Wednesday.

St. John's Catholic Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Olivia Bolduc led the charge by putting up 29 points along with six rebounds and five assists. The dominant performance gave Bolduc a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Samantha Shively, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards.

Severn School's loss came despite strong showings from Katherine Mentesana and Amyah Heyliger. Mentesana posted 11 points and six rebounds, while Heyliger earned 15 points. Heyliger's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Valerie Waugh, who scored four points.

St. John's Catholic Prep's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-13. As for Severn School, their record now sits at 13-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. John's Catholic Prep will challenge Gerstell Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Severn School, they will face off against Annapolis at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
