Baseball Recap: Winthrop Wins Going Away Against Hall-Dale

Winthrop had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Hall-Dale on Wednesday. The Ramblers were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Bulldogs. The Ramblers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by eight runs or more this season.

Trent Collin was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has become a key player for Winthrop: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 4-5 otherwise. Collin was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May.

In other batting news, Braden Branagan was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Adams, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Winthrop is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season. As for Hall-Dale, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.

As of now, neither Winthrop nor Hall-Dale have any future games scheduled.
