Alta hasn't had much luck against Olympus recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Hawks will take on the Titans at 3:30 p.m. Alta has given up an average of 11.9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Alta took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They skirted past Brighton 13-12. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Hawks' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Emery Pettitt was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Pettitt was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brielle Watson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Taylor Johnson, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Olympus entered their tilt with Brighton two weeks ago with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came out on top against the Bengals by a score of 5-1.
Charlie Turner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Mya Palcher was incredible, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Emily Walker also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Olympus pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Alta, they moved to 3-9 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Alta has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Olympus struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Alta suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Olympus when the teams last played back in March. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
