If the Desert Christian Eagles were riding high off their 82-32 takedown of the Duncan Wildkats last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Desert Christian fell 54-41 to Baboquivari on Tuesday. Desert Christian has not had much luck with Baboquivari recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Desert Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyson Dobbins, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Dobbins scored a full 29.3% of Desert Christian's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonathan Brown, who scored 17 points.
Leading Baboquivari to victory were Ashon Antone and Devin Antone. Antone scored 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while Antone dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Antone grabbed two or more steals. Another player making a difference was Xavier Mease, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Desert Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Baboquivari, they pushed their record up to 4-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
Desert Christian will head out on the road to face off against Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Baboquivari, they will square off against Sahuarita at 0:40 a.m. on Thursday.
