The Neuse Charter Cougars were the 74-45 winner over the Hobbton Wildcats when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Neuse Charter took a 58-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats on Friday.
When it comes to explaining why Neuse Charter lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jayvin Bradley. Despite the final result, he scored 28 points along with six rebounds and two steals. That was a full 62.2% of Neuse Charter's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Atkinson, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.
Hobbton's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashawd Wynn, who scored 18 points. Wynn continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Garret Britt, who scored 12 points.
Neuse Charter dropped their record down to 5-15 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Hobbton, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Neuse Charter will take on the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Rosewood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday. As for Hobbton, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Leopards at 7:30 p.m. Lakewood is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.7 points per game this season.
